Therapeutic sports massage is a type of massage technique that focuses on treating soft tissue aches, pain and injuries that are associated with professional sports, semi-professional sports and recreational activities. An integral part of sports medicine, massage rejuvenates and heals minor injuries that occur with high physical demands of any sport. Our body follows a recovery pattern after every physical work-out and sports. These changes are characterised by formation of micro-tears, healing and re-building phases in that order; enabling our body to adapt to the newer demands. With continued sports and work-out sessions; there is a build-up of soreness, tightness and trouble spots which makes it difficult for the muscles to relax and restricts circulation. Through sports massage; our therapists focus on revitalizing the affected muscle groups and boosting your natural inner mechanisms of healing. With the great experience that comes with specific training and having worked with athletes coming from different sports background; our therapists understand how each muscle group is affected by the specific stresses and movements of each sport. Your requirements are often very exclusive as each person has different body types, training regimens, injury history, sports-type, work-out techniques and so on. Before we begin the treatment, we establish a thorough understanding of your injury-history, requirements and goals to ensure a complete and holistic recovery. The sessions could be up to 30min or 60 min long based on your requirements and will often follow include some trigger point work, cross-fibre massage, deep Swedish massage and lymphatic drainage as indicated. We provide sports massage as a maintenance therapy; pre-sports events; post-sports events and during sports rehabilitation after any injury.
What are the precautions I need to take?
Our consultations are aimed at providing the best tailor-made treatment appropriate for your injuries. Do let us know if you have any allergies, heart or respiratory problems, seizures, recent surgeries, or are receiving treatment for any other medical condition concurrently. As with any massage, it's a good to avoid big meals and alcohol beforehand.
